Al Khayma Camp safari
A premium evening built around the Al Khayma Camp programme and dinner, with transfers, a dune drive and camels.
From USD 79.00
Private and luxury safaris promise more space, more comfort or better food. What you actually get depends on which parts of the trip are private, and which are still shared.
"Private" usually describes the vehicle: only your group rides in it. "Luxury" usually describes the camp, the dinner and the service. Neither word guarantees the other. A private vehicle does not automatically mean a private dinner table or an exclusive camp. Check each part of the package separately.
This page is an editorial overview. We do not list specific private or luxury offers with prices here, because we have not yet confirmed the details of individual listings. Use it to understand the terms, then compare the current options and read each inclusion before you pay.
Premium packages we have checked, such as the Al Khayma Camp safari, are described on their own pages.
It helps to break any safari into separate layers. Each one can be shared, private or upgraded independently:
The two terms are often mixed up in listing titles. This table shows what each usually covers.
| Part of the trip | Private vehicle package | Private camp or dining package |
|---|---|---|
| Transfer | Your group only | Check selected option |
| Dune drive | Your group in the car, often in a convoy | Check selected option |
| Activities | Usually at a shared site | Check selected option |
| Camp | Usually shared with other guests | Separate area or setup |
| Dinner | Usually the standard camp dinner | Private table or set menu |
The most common upgrade. Your group has its own car and driver, often with more flexible pickup. The rest of the evening is the standard programme at a shared camp.
A shared transfer or vehicle, but a more polished camp with better seating, service and food. The value is in the evening at the camp rather than in privacy.
Some operators run calmer drives focused on wildlife, conservation areas or Bedouin culture, sometimes in vintage vehicles. These are different from dune bashing: the pace is slower and the experience is more about landscape and culture than thrills. They can suit older travellers or anyone who dislikes strong tilting.
A few formats include a night at a desert camp. Facilities vary widely, from simple tents to well equipped camps. Ask about bathrooms, bedding and temperature before booking.
Some camps are built around a theme, such as a fort setting with a staged show. We have not checked individual offers for these yet, so we describe them only as a format.
We recommend asking these in writing through the booking platform or operator contact. The answers make it easier to compare a private or luxury option with a standard package plus a few targeted upgrades.
No. A private vehicle usually means only your group is in the car. Dinner may still be at a shared camp with other guests. Check each part of a private or luxury package separately.
Usually the camp setting, the dinner service, seating and group size. The drive itself is often similar. Ask which parts of the evening are exclusive to your group.
No. We only show prices for options whose details we have checked. For private and luxury formats, compare the current options and confirm each inclusion before booking.
